Our distributed storage middleware is built in the user space (as an app, no changes to the OS) of mobile, portable and embedded devices. When activated, it transforms a device into a storage node of an ad-hoc storage service (made by the other devices running the same middleware). The current version of the middleware exploits the HEAVEN communication middleware to coordinate the operations of the multiple devices running the distributed database service.

We have built a portable multi-drone platform designed for autonomous drone landing, automatic battery-swap (in less than 1 minute), battery charging and drone storage/transport.
We have built a portable multi-drone platform designed for autonomous drone landing, automatic battery-swap (in less than 1 minute), battery charging and drone storage/transport.
The concept is quite simple. Just like charging stations, drones land on the platform when they are in low battery. A pair of grippers will then remove their current battery and reload a full one. Once finished, drones take off to continue their job. The removed battery will be put into charging on the platform. Once fully charged, it will be sent to the storage lot and wait to be loaded on another drone. In this way, a theoretical autonomous swarming cycle is achievable.

The complete package will include a robust design handling communications and battery replacement interface which is adaptable to multiple drones.
We are also working on a highly portable robust version that could be deployed on moving vehicles in many challenging disaster response scenarios.
